Installing the App

From the App Store

Private Authenticator is a free download from the App Store on your iPhone. Search for Private Authenticator by Pebble IT Solutions, tap Get, and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple ID password as you would for any app. There is nothing to pay and no account to create.

Once it has downloaded, the icon on your Home Screen says PrivAuth.

Before you open it

Two things make the first minutes smoother:

1. Make sure Face ID or Touch ID is set up on your iPhone (Settings → Face ID & Passcode, or Touch ID & Passcode). Private Authenticator uses it every time you look at a code. If it isn't set up, the app can still hold your accounts but will refuse to show any code.
2. Decide whether you want your accounts on more than one iPhone. The very first screen asks you this, and the answer is hard to change later. Your First Launch explains the choice; if you have only one iPhone, either answer is fine.

The Apple Watch app

If you have an Apple Watch, the Watch version of Private Authenticator installs with the iPhone app. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to Available Apps, and tap Install next to Private Authenticator. Nothing appears on the Watch until you turn on Device Sync in the iPhone app's settings; the Apple Watch page covers it.

Updating

Updates arrive through the App Store like any other app. An update never changes or removes your accounts, and your settings stay as they were.
