Release Notes¶
These are the release notes for this documentation. The version menu next to the site's name lets you switch to the notes and pages for an earlier version.
Two version numbers
The documentation has its own version number, shown in the version menu, and the app has its own, shown in the About section of its Info page. They are not the same number, and they don't have to match: the pages here describe whatever the app does at the time they were written.
Documentation 1.0 — 26 September 2026¶
The first version of this site. It describes Private Authenticator for iPhone and Apple Watch as it stands in September 2026:
- Getting started: installing, the first launch (the sync question and the welcome screen), adding accounts by QR code, by typing a key, or from a link, Steam Guard accounts, and using a code.
- Everyday use: the Recent tab and search, tags (unlimited per account, with the tick list for choosing a tag's accounts), editing, archiving, the menu, the Info page and landscape.
- Settings: the launch lock, Close After, the Idle Timeout, the sync choice and Device Sync for the Apple Watch.
- Backups with a recovery key, restoring, importing from Google Authenticator, Aegis and files, the three import choices, exporting, and moving to a new iPhone.
- Privacy and security in plain words, troubleshooting, an FAQ, how to get help, a screen-by-screen reference, supported code types, limits, a glossary, the privacy policy and the disclaimer.
